Maintaining Anesthesia Certification (MAC) Program 

The Maintaining Anesthesia Certification (MAC) Program has had a strong start to 2025. Since the launch of the MAC Program in 2024, over 26,000 eligible CRNAs have enrolled. We are excited for all CRNAs to enter the MAC Program. The NBCRNA will provide personalized transition details based on individual certification timelines.  

The MAC Program offers a streamlined four-year certification cycle and is designed to better reflect evolving professional needs. We are asking CRNAs to view their personalized timeline by logging in to the NBCRNA portal, and viewing their specific information.   

2025 Renewals

Over 21,000 CRNAs are still in the CPC Program and are due to renewtheir CRNA credential in 2025. The NBCRNA will notify CRNAs when their renewal window opens, which is five months prior to the end of their four-year cycle. Requirements for certification renewal in the CPC Program include the following: 

• 60 Class A credits 
• 40 Class B credits  
• Four Core Modules 
• Completion of the Continued Professional Certification Assessment (CPCA)   
• This is applicable only to CRNAs in their second four-year CPC Program Cycle. 

If you are due to renew your credential in 2025, you are still in the CPC Program, and all requirements of the CPC Program (noted above) have to be completed before you can move into the new MAC Program and eliminate the required Core Modules and the every-8-year test. 

Important Note: NBCRNA will continue to message you individually about your requirements throughout the transition into the MAC Program. To ensure timely communication, please make sure your phone number and email address are up to date in the NBCRNA portal.

Emerging Leader Fellow Submissions  

The NBCRNA is now accepting applications for an Emerging Leader Fellow position on the NBCRNA Board of Directors. The Fellowship is open to CRNAs initially certified within the past two to five years. The position lasts one year, with the opportunity for re-appointment for a second year. The goal of this Fellowship is to introduce rising CRNA leaders to Board governance, high-level decision making, and trends affecting the future of the profession.
