NBCRNA Presents, Leads Sessions at Premier Credentialing Profession Conference
National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Board members and staff led several sessions at the credentialing field's premier annual conference, ICE Exchange, hosted by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE), November 18-21, 2019, in San Diego. At the ICE Exchange 2019, the NBCRNA was also awarded the inaugural ICE Research Award for credentialing-related research of significance to the ICE/credentialing community recognizing best practice in research.
NBCRNA Board Director Ed Susank moderated a panel, “Update on Legislation Affecting Certification and Certification Renewal,” at the Exchange. Additionally, NBCRNA CEO Karen Plaus, PhD, CRNA, FAAN, CAE, participated in a preconference session: The Latest Evolution of Continuing Competence in the Health Professions. She was a panelist on the “What’s New in Continuing Competence in the Health Professions?” discussing the how NBCRNA uses assessment in its Continued Professional Certification (CPC) Program and its exploration of future options. Dr. Plaus was also recently appointed as a Director on the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE) 2020 Board of Directors.
NBCRNA Senior Director of Testing Mary Browne, MA, gave two presentations at the Exchange including, “What’s the Evidence? Considering Remote Proctoring for Your Assessment” and “Validity – Same Difference or Real Difference? Assessment for Recertification vs. Entry to Practice.” NBCRNA Director of Testing Matt Ferris, MA, MBA, CAE, ELS, presented on changes in the copyright procedure in his presentation, “New Rules to the Old Game: Preparing to Register Secure Items with the US Copyright Office.”
The NBCRNA regularly participates in numerous credentialing- and nursing-related organizations and conferences throughout the year to exchange and share information related to the field.
