NBCRNA Media

The NBCRNA produces regular, timely communications to inform CRNAs, students, program administrators, CE vendors, other stakeholders, and the public about important developments and updates with regard to certification and recertification for nurse anesthetists.

The NBCRNA also periodically develops joint news releases with other organizations, such as the AANA, about collaborative developments. We provide support upon request to accredited providers to assist their efforts in communicating the value of certification. The NBCRNA also contributes to other publications that offer education and resources about Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).

The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Chief Credentialing Officer Christopher Gill, PhD, MBA, CRNA, NP, FACHE, recently authored a piece for Modern Healthcare on the importance of continued education and credentialing in maintaining patient confidence in healthcare providers.

In his article, Dr. Gill discusses the duty of CRNAs to keep up with the rapidly evolving modern medical landscape and emphasizes the role of the Maintaining Anesthesia Certification (MAC) Program in regularly assessing practitioner knowledge. Through the use of longitudinal assessments, patients and the public alike can be sure that CRNAs are meeting the highest standards, thus fostering increased trust in practitioners and the healthcare field as a whole.

The significance of CNRA knowledge to patients is exemplified in the results of a recent NBCRNA study: Nearly 96% of patients value the involvement of CNRAs in continuous education.

At NBCRNA, our core mission is to promote the safety of patients through credentialing programs that ensure CRNAs are involved in lifelong learning. We look forward to continuing to facilitate the advancement of patient care through the MAC Program, which directly incorporates feedback received from CRNAs and detailed research.
