CHICAGO, October 11, 2023— John C. Preston, DNSc, CRNA, FAANA, FNAP, APRN, NBCRNA Chief Executive Officer, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) on October 7th, 2023. The American Academy of Nursing (AAN) announced their selection for the Fellowship July 2023, and the Induction Ceremony and Soiree were held during the 50th Anniversary of the AAN Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.

The 2023 Fellows were chosen based on their significant contributions to the nursing profession, and their exceptional leadership within and outside the industry. Dr. Preston was selected for his leadership in designing and establishing the first accredited post-graduate fellowship for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in the field of advanced pain management.

“I’m honored to have been selected and inducted into the American Academy of Nursing’s 2023 Class of Fellows,” says Dr. Preston.  In regard to his platform, he noted that “The alleviation of pain, especially considering this nation’s opioid addiction crisis, is a challenging and daunting task for all Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. I am proud to have been at the helm creating the nation’s first post-graduate pain management fellowship for CRNAs and then having it accredited as the profession’s first Council on Accreditation recognized fellowship.” 

The NBCRNA congratulates Dr. Preston on this well-deserved accomplishment, as his dedication to the nursing industry has greatly impacted countless individuals.
