NBCRNA Announces New CRNA Board Members for FY 2021
CHICAGO, February 6, 2020 – The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is pleased to announce the election of three new Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) members to the Board of Directors. The NBCRNA welcomes Garry J. Brydges, PhD, DNP, MBA, ACNP-BC, CRNA, FAAN; Robert T. Laird, CRNA; and Lisa M. Riedel, DNP, MS, CRNA, to the FY 2021 Board of Directors. The new Board members will begin their terms in October 2020.
"The commitment and dedication of our volunteer leaders makes it possible for NBCRNA to continue to remain focused on work that serves the public and the CRNA profession,” said current NBCRNA Board President Terry Wicks, DNP, MHS, CRNA. “The new board members were selected for their well-rounded perspectives, background in a variety of practice settings, and leadership experience, and we look forward to their contributions to our credentialing work.”
Garry J. Brydges, PhD, DNP, MBA, ACNP-BC, CRNA, FAAN, is Chief CRNA at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Robert T. Laird, CRNA, is in private practice in Abilene, Texas.
Lisa M. Riedel, DNP, MS, CRNA, is the program director at The University of Tulsa.
The nominations and review process included input from both the NBCRNA and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Boards of Directors, followed by candidate interviews with members of the Leadership Development and Nominations Committee, as well as a liaison from the AANA Board of Directors.
The NBCRNA Board of Directors are volunteers that spend an estimated 300 hours per year on this important commitment, leading the strategic direction of the organization.
