NSPM Continuing Certification

NSPM certification is time-limited and must be renewed. Individuals who successfully obtain the NSPM credential and are certified in this subspecialty will be required to demonstrate continued subspecialty certification every four years in order to maintain use of the NSPM-C credential. After 2016, the individual’s continued subspecialty certification will be in alignment with his or her continued professional certification (CPC) Program cycle. (Note: Individuals who are NSPM certified prior to 2016 will not be required to demonstrate continued subspecialty certification until 2020 or 2021, depending on the individual’s CPC cycle).

Licensure        

Unrestricted licensure as a RN and/or APRN, as applicable.

Certification Status             

Current full recertification as a nurse anesthetist and currently holds the NSPM-C credential.

Attest to continued practice in the NSPM subspecialty.

Core Module        

One core module in NSPM is required in 2020 or 2021 (depending on the applicant’s CPC cycle completion date), and every four-year CPC cycle thereafter. The NSPM module requirement is in addition to the CPC program core module requirement. The NSPM core module must be prior-approved for assessed CE.

Examination        

Successful completion of the NSPM subspecialty examination every eight years.
