CHICAGO, IL — January 18, 2018– The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Browne, MA, as Senior Director of Testing and Research. Mary received her Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology with an emphasis in Testing and Assessment from Columbia University. She has worked in credentialing and assessment since 1999, most recently with the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME), where she was Director of Examination Development, leading the work of migrating almost 100,000 items to a new item bank and training staff in the new work routines. She was also the Vice President for Programs at Professional Examination Service where she was responsible for management of over 40 credentialing clients in professions including healthcare, finance, IT, and HR.
In her new role, Mary will oversee the development, assessment, and implementation of NBCRNA testing initiatives for our credentialing programs. Among other key responsibilities, Mary will also provide leadership for the development and production of examination formats, test security, technology, and packaging, including electronic platforms.
Apart from core assessment competencies in item writing, exam development, statistical analysis, and standard setting, Mary also has deep experience in item bank development and maintenance. Mary has been very active in the Association in Test Publishers (ATP), and in 2013 was chair of the ATP Innovations in Testing Conference.
